what if the Bible has more to say about desire than shame?

Song of Songs is unlike anything else in Scripture. It is sensual. Honest. Playful. Unashamed. It speaks openly about attraction, longing, pleasure, conflict, and love. Yet many of us were taught to look away. This September, we look again.

I will teach the whole book from a progressive biblical lens, out of my years as a professor, a sexuality educator, and a counselor, and my own wrestling with faith, the body, and desire. This is not another lecture on what you are forbidden to do.

Come with your questions. Leave with a more honest way to understand your body, your desire, your relationships, and your faith.

We are filming these conversations in our home, with a real audience. Your questions, your laughter, your presence, all of it becomes part of what people see.

First we gather for food, music, and conversation. Then we sit together and enter one of the most beautiful and misunderstood books in the Bible. No stage between us. No pretending. Just an honest room full of people willing to reconsider what they were taught.

six sessions, two a night

The study is six sessions. We film two of them each night, across three nights. Come to one night for a taste, or come to all three for the whole book, start to finish. If you can, come to all three.

You do. Come if you are curious, or skeptical. Come if you love the Bible, or if the Bible has been used against you. Come with your partner, a friend, or by yourself. Come if you are deep in the church, or if you walked away years ago. There is room for you here.

You do not need to agree with everything. You only need to be willing to enter the conversation. This gathering stays thoughtful and is welcoming to mature teens sixteen and older, attending with a parent.

This is the conversation I have wanted to lead my entire life. For more than a decade I taught human sexuality, and I sat with people as a counselor. Then I stepped away. My own life had more to teach me. I am back now, with greater honesty, deeper compassion, and fewer easy answers.

Chani and I still sit on our porch, most weeks, with individuals and couples working through faith, sex, sexuality, marriage, trauma, and belonging. These nights are that porch, opened wider. They are personal. They are sacred. And I would love for you to be part of them.

Our home has become a safe place to discover, to explore, and to process. Community, and growing together, is our passion.
